What is Pre-Viz? Why are pre-visualizations in design so important?
They’re important because it’s a beginning place for brainstorming ideas that will branch off the initial concept into something brilliant. They provide direction for creating the message we’re communicating with our audience. If the message doesn’t work in a sketch then how could it work in a final design?
Thumbnail is a term used by designers, artists, photographers (etc…) for a small image representation of a larger image, usually intended to make it easier and faster to look at or manage a group of larger images/objects/designed elements.
A storyboard is the blueprint for a project. It is a simple, flexible graphic representation of the intended motion, movements, story arcs, or layout for the project.
A mood board is a type of collage consisting of images, text, and samples of objects in a composition. It can be based upon a set topic or can be any material chosen at random. A mood board can be used to give a general idea, concept, design, or direction of a topic/project.
An animatic is a preproduction tool used in both film, commercials, motion media, and animation, although it is more commonly referred to as an animatic in the animation setting. We previously talked about what a storyboard is, and one step beyond that brings us to what an animatic is.
